This Posts is a sample documentation for the web project named Asset tracking System. This can be used manipulated, altered before use.
Useful for B.Sc , B.Cs , BCA Final semester projects.
I am very thankful to everyone who all supported me, for I have completed my project on time.
We give our special thanks to respected Head of Information Technology (prof: name) for his support.
I am equally grateful to my teacher (guide name). She gave me moral support and guided me in different matters regarding the topic. She had been very kind and patient while suggesting me the outlines of this project and correcting my doubts. I thank her for her overall support.
About Project
Introduction to project
All businesses have a collection of assets that they need to maintain and with the right solution in place you can gain more detailed control over your assets and greater return on your investment with the benefits of:
• Productivity - Collect data faster in greater detail.
• Accuracy - Eliminate human error.
• Compliance - Reporting flexibility with more accurate records.
• Accountability - Enforces personal responsibility and accountability for company property.
Asset management software, you will be able to speed up your audit tasks and conduct your asset tracking in real-time. The management software will also enable you to schedule necessary maintenance or services for your equipment at appropriate times. With a complete solution that includes barcode technology, mobile computers and software you can manage your assets accurately and efficiently.
Every company uses hundreds of assets on a daily basis. An "asset" is any item that a business uses internally, such as IT equipment, office equipment, tools, etc… A properly integrated asset management solution can help your company accurately and efficiently track any of your business' assets. Rather than wasting time searching for and replacing lost assets, you can keep track of all your valuable assets with a convenient, easy to use complete asset tracking system that is regularly managed.
Our Asset Tracking System offers the following features:
• Tracks assets by location
• Tracks serial and model number
• Enables addition of new items in the field
• Assigns asset categories
• Conducts physical inventory
• Maintains asset cost records
• Generates management reports
• Auto generation of passwords for particulars • Schedules asset maintenance
• Schedules transfers to other locations
• Records notes for each asset
• Generating barcodes for assets
• Exports Data to Excel
• Easy to use, menu-driven software
• No programming required
• User configurable to your specifications
• Concurrent user licensing with authentication
• Data base : Ms Sql 2005
• IDE : Microsoft visual studio 2008
• The system is user-friendly.
• It is upgradable. Hence further enhancements to the system are possible.
• The system is capable of generating the necessary reports.
• The system maintains speed and accuracy.
• It solves all problems encountered in the previous manually handled system.
• It takes care of database security by restricting unauthorized access to the system.
Useful for B.Sc , B.Cs , BCA Final semester projects.

System Study
&
Analysis
The purpose of this document is to present a detailed description of the Asset Management System using proposed application. It will explain the purpose and features of the system, the interfaces of the system, what the system will do, the constraints under which it must operate and how the system will react to external stimuli. This document is intended for both the stakeholders and the developers of the system and will be proposed to the any Motor shop for its approval.
There is a lot of reason for the introduction of this project. In the manual System, there are number of inefficiencies that a salesperson faces. Large records-books have to be maintained where relevant and irrelevant information has to be stored which is very untidy and clumsy process. But our System reduces paper works. On the other hand, there are many inherent problems that exist in any manual system. Usually, they lack efficiency. Less efficiency has a great impact on the productivity of any human being keeping the data up-to-date.
The project Asset Management System is developed with the objective of making the system reliable, easier, fast, and more informative.

Limitations of the Current System:
At present, the requirements of the system are done manually and hence there are number of limitations.
• The information is maintained in books and files, which is very difficult.
• Reports are produced by manual processing, that will be an unformatted manual and unreliable.
• Data security is less.
• Records are more prone to getting lost or misplaced.
• Users has to maintain lots of records for customers, every things is done manually
• Records regarding the site is very important , but present systems doesn’t has any facility to help that out or make easy for the employee working for the builder.
• Current system also doesn’t support the automation process for the records of employee.

Proposed system and its advantages:
• Increased end user productivity because of flexible data access.
• Graphically oriented, highly interactive user interface.
• Increased developer productivity through usage of easy to use tools.
• Improved access to information because of networking.
• Easier maintenance of application & data.
• It reduces the burden of staff.
• Developer can construct the product with minimum functionalities that can be reviewed by the Client.

Proposed System:
• The system can be further enhanced with Distributed Database in order to transparently operate the application on a network.
• The data can be easily backed up onto a reliable media so that no or minimal data loss is there in case of system crash.
• Unauthorized access to the data is nearly eliminated by providing password authentication system.
• It can be deployed as a web application in future.
• The system can be easily integrated with any other application without complex and tedious modifications. The application can deployed as mobile application in future.

• Reduced paper work time.
PLANNING PHASE
Feasibility Study
The feasibility study is undertaken to determine the possibility of either improving the present manually working system or developing a completely new system. It helps to obtain an overview of the problem and get an idea whether a feasibility solution exist.
This project has been tested in the following areas of feasibility
• Operation Feasibility
• Technical Feasibility
• Economic Feasibility

OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY
The current system is manual thus processing large amount of data become a cumbersome activity. Reports that are generated are difficult to prepare manually and are also error prone. Since the user find difficulty operating a manual system, they have personally come forward and given their ideas regarding what sort of computer system are expected. Organization has evaluated organizational and cultural issues to identify potential risk for the new system. And has come to conclusion that the new computerized system presents no risk they might prevent effective use of the new system.
• The system is designed in such a way that it is easy to operate.
• The system does not involve any complex operations. It handles only simple data oriented functions. It is aimed at giving an easy way to generate reports.

TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY
Generally, new system brings new technology into an organization. The proposed system requires technology and equipment, which can be obtained. The operating system has the technical capacity to hold the data required to use the proposed system. Moreover the maintenance system has lot of scope of being expanded and developed to generate even more valuable and better reports. The present equipment technology assures technical guaranty of accuracy, reliability and ease of access.
• Also software used to build the system is simple enough in their usage and functionality.
• The system is platform independent.
• The system can be expanded if so decided.
• This system is technically more secure.

ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY
The Economic Feasibility of the system is mainly concerned with its financial aspects. It determines whether the investment that goes into the implementation of the project is recoverable or not. The Cost Benefit Analysis is a commonly used method in evaluating the effectiveness of the system.
• The cost of developing this system currently includes the minimum software cost to develop and run the system.
• The most of the software used in the system development is freely available on the Web.
